Study Goal: We are doing a case study to demonstrate that modest sized businesses can achieve the same level of success as large sites with dedicated Usability teams.

We also want to demonstrate how quickly effective UX work can pay for itself. The study may be used in articles, books or presentations. We will honor your need to maintain business secrets. The goal is to demonstrate a system which is easily cost justified and delivers success.

The nature of the study will demand that every investment you make, can be "Cost justified".

This involves a 3 - 6 month project

We will address all necessary elements of your sites User Experience including:

Site information architecture
Landing pages for both pay per click and email
Compliance with basic UX principles
Compliance with Persuasion psychology principles
Testing of new treatments using Google Analytics and tools such as Clicktales.
Web site monitoring with Web site Pulse
Testing as needed with direct face to face video user testing
Additional potential "offline" cost reductions for call centers, product returns and support.

Benefits to you:

  • Direct measurable increase in your business success using tools and expertise that might not be currently be available to you,
    Your site could also receive additional exposure in the press. You will have access to the same tools and expertise that industry leading sites currently have on hand, at a fraction of the cost.

Cost:

  • We will discount our hourly rate.
  • We will do cost justification studies for any significant investment. Whether you choose to make the investment is up to you.
  • You can terminate your participation at any time.
  • It is in both our interests to keep costs as low as possible.
  • Your developers or team members will be mentored in usability techniques.

Participants: We will work with whatever development, design and content providers you choose.

Risk: we will not be experimenting with unproven technology and you will not be asked to reveal information which you deem to be confidential. We will sign Non-disclosures at your request.

Control: ultimately this is your site and you retain final decisions on all costs and changes (just as in a large organization). Your decision to reject any of our recommendations will not be cause for ending the project.

Note: we will not accept any compensation for recommending tools or personnel.

To apply: you must have an existing online business and you have not worked with a dedicated usability consultant to date. This is likely to be cost prohibitive for companies whose gross margin is less then $5K per month, if you feel that you might soon reach that level though, please feel free to contact us. You need not be a US company but site content must be in English.

Tools: we will provide all our proprietary tools including: Cost Justification, Personality Profiling, UX compliance, and Information Architecture modeling tools. We will also use Google Analytics and Clicktales. Included at our expense will be testing tools such as: Morae (user testing software) and Camtasia (screen recording). We may recommend other tools such as Live Chat or Eye Tracking if they can be cost justified. Cost justification will drive all spending recommendations.
